Where can I buy a tree stump for an art project?

I was thinking about calling a a tree stump removal person to see if they would sell tree stumps that they’re removed, but I don’t know if they actually remove it in one piece, or shred it to bits. I found a 12 inch tree stump for about $20 online I could buy, but I was looking for something bigger. Any ideas? Thanks!

I’m sure if you called a tree stump removal place locally you could figure out how much they cost to remove the stump then all you have to do is find a stump to remove. You can go ask local farmers if they have any they need removed and explain that it’s for an art project, I’m sure they’ll be glad to help. I know that it is very possible to get the whole stump out in one piece you just have to find someone that can do it.

We have several large oak trees that need to be removed

i’m not from your area ,but i believe they would not. taking down a large tree is hard work which is why most will not . try calling every arborist in your vicinity. and ask them this question. on the other hand you could call all the people in your area who make things from oak and see if they may be interested in this product.
there are even more things you could try like people who make furniture products. but i think your best case is you may find someone who will take them down for free. who ever you find remember to ask if they carry insurance and even ask to see proof ..

Your opinion on tree removal charge, please.?

I have a live pine tree, actually I think a Brewer spruce, about 50-60 feet tall I’d like removed. Cut down and taken away. Any idea of what a reasonable cost would be to have this done?
If it makes any difference, I am in New York.

I would like to help you with this question, but each area of the country have different prices. I do know that leaving a stump is cheaper that complete removal which is digging down into the earth to remove roots and all.

I would suggest looking into the telephone book and getting three estimates. Let them know exactly what you want done and have it put into a contract.

A tree invading my property although planted by neighbor who is responsible for the removal of the tree?

My neighbor has a tree that has invaded our property. It has many large roots on our side and has caused extensive damage to an existing fence and a wall that is holding up their property. Would a survayor be able to determine who’s tree it belongs to. Does the tree become property of both neighbors? who’s responsible for removing the tree when it has grown out of control?

It depends on your state and county in most counties.

First I would approach the home owner and let them know the tree on their property is damaging your property, as in "most" cases if a tree falls on your property belonging to another "their" homeowners insurance must pay for the damage.
Or you can ask to split the cost of getting the tree trimmed back to save you both alot of expense in damages later on.
Or just a trim trimmer come in and trim what is hanging on your side. As per the root damage dig around it best you can, you can take a chain saw cut the said root and place a piece of tin straight down in the ground and it will reroute the root in another direction. The tree trimmer in most cases can do this also.

You may also want to contact your homeowners insurance and as their opinion on the situation since it most likely will be a future claim.
